Senior Engineer (Layer 2 Infrastructure)

About the Role You will be a senior engineer on our L2 stack, working across both its offchain infrastructure and onchain components. You do not need prior experience with this exact stack. We hire for distributed-systems depth and proven ability to ramp fast on unfamiliar deep tech. If your background is trading systems, consensus, or low-latency backend infrastructure and you can learn the Ethereum-specific parts quickly, we want to talk. What You Will Build and Own - The Engine (Rust): L2 and L1 preconfs (preconfirmations), parallel block building, and blockspace configuration - Cross-chain settlement paths: vault contracts custodying capital on Ethereum L1, execution on the L2, and relayer services with confirmed-send semantics, serialised nonce management, and crash-restart recovery - Onchain infrastructure: rollup contracts and messaging between L1 and L2 - Offchain services in TypeScript (Node 20, viem): high-cadence pricers signing EIP-712 payloads, cross-chain relayers, risk monitors, keepers, and quoting bots, engineered for restarts, nonce races, and stale-data edges - TEE attestation infrastructure: hardware attestation verification (Intel TDX DCAP, AMD SEV-SNP) implemented in both Solidity and Rust, kept in lockstep by cross-language parity tests - ZK Proofs: zero knowledge proofs - The test surface: Foundry fuzz and invariant suites, adversarial regression tests, and live-testnet E2E harnesses You will pick a primary layer; you are expected to read across all of them. Requirements - 5+ years (or equivalent evidence) building production systems other people depended on. You write code reviewers trust and tests that catch real bugs. - Strong distributed-systems fundamentals: you reason natively about ordering, idempotency, at-least-once vs. exactly-once, partial failure, retries, and recovery - Proven fast ramp on unfamiliar deep tech: point to a time you went from zero to shipping in a domain with a real learning curve (a consensus client, a database engine, a compiler, a codec) - Expert in at least one of TypeScript, Rust, or Solidity, and no allergy to the other two - An invariant-first testing mindset: you think in properties ("total balances are conserved") rather than examples Nice to Have - Ethereum L2 development or L1 client development (geth, reth, nethermind, lighthouse, prysm, op-node) โ explicitly welcomed, explicitly not required - Foundry depth: fuzzing, invariant testing, EVM security instincts - Applied cryptography: typed-data signing systems, commitment schemes, or MPC - Confidential computing exposure: TDX or SEV-SNP attestation, remote-attestation flows - Matching engines, margin/liquidation systems, market microstructure, or other low-latency financial systems - Experience operating many-process service fleets against live networks - Flexible working hours to support a globally distributed team How We Work - Security is built into the process: external audits, invariant gates in CI, and honest internal tracking of what is production-grade versus simulated - Ship to a live network: we deploy continuously; your work can be running in production within days, not quarters - Small, senior team: direct ownership, written decision-making (ADRs), and minimal process overhead What Is on Offer - Competitive salary + token/equity - Remote-friendly with flexibility across time zones - Direct ownership and high-impact work on live production infrastructure - Low bureaucracy: direct access to the team, fast decisions, minimal organisational overhead
