About the Company
Our client is a global fintech and digital asset infrastructure company providing payments technology and blockchain-based financial products to businesses and developers worldwide.
About the Role
Our client is hiring a hands-on Engineering Manager for its Digital Assets pillar, with a focus on risk, onboarding, and compliance engineering. The team builds reliable, scalable technology that supports fraud decisioning, payment risk, transaction monitoring, risk operations tooling, customer onboarding controls, and privacy and compliance systems.
This is a frontline (M1) role, not a manager-of-managers position. You will lead engineers through hiring, coaching, feedback, prioritisation, and performance accountability, while staying technically engaged enough to guide architecture, challenge designs, and debug issues. The work sits at the intersection of controls, operational workflows, and product simplicity, in close partnership with Risk, Compliance, Product, Security, and adjacent engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
● Guide the delivery of risk, onboarding, and compliance engineering systems with meaningful production scale and complexity.
● Lead a team of engineers through hiring, coaching, feedback, prioritisation, and performance accountability.
● Guide architecture, system design, engineering tradeoffs, code quality, and incident learning while staying close enough to challenge designs and debug issues.
● Partner effectively with Risk, Compliance, Product, Security, and adjacent engineering groups.
● Balance effective controls with user friction, operational workflows, and product simplicity.
● Own delivery of production services with measurable reliability, scalability, and customer impact.
● Use modern AI-assisted development thoughtfully while independently validating code, tests, and system behaviour.
What You Will Bring
● 3+ years of direct engineering people management with clear hiring, development, and performance responsibilities.
● Experience leading teams that build or operate large-scale production software systems, with credible architecture, reliability, and delivery experience.
● Relevant exposure to risk, fraud prevention, payments, compliance, privacy, or closely related products.
● Hands-on technical depth, with specific architectural contributions and a personal role in shipping systems.
● Strong product judgment that balances controls with user friction, operational workflows, and simplicity.
● Clear communication of who uses the systems you build and how their workflows shape engineering decisions.
Ideal Background
A hands-on engineering manager from fraud, payments, or privacy and compliance platforms, ideally with a strong systems background from product-oriented backend or developer-platform teams. Target experience includes fraud decisioning, payment risk, transaction monitoring, risk ops tooling, or onboarding controls.
Nice to Have
● Personally building production AI infrastructure, such as agent orchestration, evaluation systems, or workflow engines.
● Multi-tenant platform experience serving many internal customers.
● Concrete examples of product impact: reduced friction, better decision quality, or measurable business outcomes.
